Charlie and The Chocolate Factory features the adventure of Charlie Bucket when he discovers Mr. Willy Wonka's precious Golden Ticket and wins a trip inside the bizarre chocolate factory. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is a classic children's book that combines playful prose, dark humor, clever puns, and sinister undertones. The book is slightly disturbing and totally bizarre, but it is also a hilarious and amusing read! The vivid descriptions that the author paints made me want to eat the book! In just a few pages, you are transported to a strange yet delectable world full of rich, creamy dark chocolate layered with sweet caramel and whipped till a satisfying and smooth consistency. Yummy! I recommend Charlie and The Chocolate Factory as a children's book. It is easy to follow and has a wonderful storyline with lessons for young children. Rating: 4/5 stars @LavishReads of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board I really like reading children’s novels for the fact they can be silly and odd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory certainly fits that description. While this novel teaches a very important lesson about kindness its also a little heavy for young readers. By heavy I mean that when a character is punished for their bad behaviour they experience things most humans shouldn’t be able to. Of course this is just a children’s book and odd things are bound to happen, I just think the punishments are a little too much. Overall it was an interesting novel and a rememberable one so I definitely recommend it to everyone of all ages! 2/5 stars @Celine of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board
