This book was to have influenced Christie's writing of, Murder on the Orient Express, and the similarities are there with several characters, each with very different personalities and very different reasons for riding this infamous train. But, Greene has a knack for delving into the character's mind with stream of consciousness so the reader feels comfortable even when a character's thoughts are vacillating between reason and action. For such a short novel, Greene amazingly included class, race and political oppression and dedication.
