Add a CommentI was really wanting to watch this movie, and glad I waited until the library got it in, and did not pay per view. The main character a deputy who's dad is the sheriff who is older and ill. The deputy is a dry drunk with anger issues, divorced and a difficult relationship with his daughter. The female deputy who is his partner is so much better at her job and her acting. I was looking for a good horror movie and this is more thriller and dysfunctional family/job issues. If the deputy's father had not been the sheriff he would have been fired long ago. He was so unlikeable I wished he would have been a victim.
"The Wolf of Snow Hollow" is an odd duck of a film. It's worth a watch, but I wouldn't know who to recommend it to. It's not clearly a horror film, or a comedy, or a horror-comedy, or a thriller, or a drama, or anything else. It's a balancing act between various genres that starts with a monster killing a woman and remains compelling up until the end. The glue that holds it all together is the frazzled lead performance by writer/director Jim Cummings, backed by a very strong cast (including the great Robert Forster in one of his final roles). The movie moves quick and feels a little chopped up, but for me the performances really brought me into the movie. Genre purists might be put off, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
