Summerland
DVD - 2020
Alice is a reclusive writer, resigned to a solitary life on the seaside cliffs of Southern England while World War II rages across the channel. When she opens her front door one day to find she's to adopt a young London evacuee name Frank, she's resistant. It's not long, however, before the two realize they have more in common in their pasts than Alice had assumed.

Add a CommentI was surprised at how much I truly enjoyed this movie. The acting was wonderful-especially the lead female actress and the little boy. Although there are the inevitable situations of sadness during a time of war, this movie was laced with enough humor to keep it from being maudlin, and the uplifting ending is a big plus for me!
Not really what I was expecting but it was okay. I think a female would probably enjoy this one more than a guy. Scenery is good though.
Love is so powerful and healing. Not a romance story and sweet love story. The little boy in this movie such a good good actor.
This is truly a sweet little movie, visually beautiful and compelling. Successful directorial debut.
