Kept me tuned in .... didn't see at all how things were going to go in this suspense.

This drama/crime film is about a man who works at a pub where gang members regularly conduct business as he turns a blind eye. But after rescuing a neglected puppy and meeting a new woman, he begins to question what he has been doing with his life and the moral issues that he has been ignoring. The movie stars Tom Hardy in one of his most convincing and heartfelt performances to date, as he brings out the true essence of his character in a way that is believable and not melodramatic. I would rate this film 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to those who like soul searching crime films. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Great movie, lots of twists and turns, dark and dangerous, but the actors are great and the plot is too...

Dark, depressing, tense, and ultimately excellent. Tom Hardy and James Gandolfini are excellent.

I picked this up of the shelf because it had Tom hardy in it. I was pleasantly surprised. Great crime drama with a good twist at the end. James Gandolfino and Noomi Rapace are a match for Hardy.

An outstanding crime drama with great script and strong cast. There's no shortage of reality and no usual pattern of Hollywood commercial flicks. All the actors including the dog deliver their best.

One of my favorites of Tom Hardy movies. Superb acting of all actors and the dog is just adorable. This is somewhat a semi, small town mob story but mostly the story of Bob who, quiet and lonely but VERY smart, whose heart opens to a puppy and a nice gal.

I was no surprisingly impressed with this movie. It was so predictable and even if you don't know what the next scene will be it doesn't matter. Is any bar not depressing with its routine of set 'em up and drink 'em down? Does anyone need another crime film with shots to the head and bad guys looking for some victim? I wouldn't want anything to do with Naomi Rapace.

Good collection of quotes in IMDb as these:

Bob: [on looking after his new puppy] I mean, it's a huge responsibility, right?
Cousin Marv: Well, it's a dog. It's not like some long lost retarded relative shows up at your door in a wheelchair and a colostomy bag hanging out of his ass. Says "I'm yours now. Take care of me." It's not that. It's a dog.

Bob: I shot him in the face, twice. Then I wrapped his head in a towel, and I stabbed him in the chest in his heart, so he would bleed out, and I put him in my bathtub and watched him drain. Then I put him in an oil tank with laundry detergent and lye, and I sealed it back up.
