The One was probably my favorite book of the series. There's a lot of relationships that evolve that I didn't see coming, and I liked that surprise element. It also tied in more outward plot lines such as drama within America's family, the injustice of the Castes, and a look into the King and Queen. Overall, it was a good way to end the story and a great read for young teens.

What a crazy time that was. I was sad and happy, devastated and excited. The plot of this book was intense and great! And what an ending!

There were things that I liked about The One and things that I didn't. The continuation of the sociopolitical aspect of the story was a little over the top, especially by the end of the book, and overshadowed the romance. The king never seemed fully developed as a character so that we could understand more of his motivations and how someone like Queen Amberly could ever actually love somebody like him. Maxon and America were both too easily swayed by outside influences throughout the story. America's family as characters, especially Kota, were never developed until they were needed as a plot device in the story.
What I liked about the story was how much potential it had to be sensational. Situations were created and plot lines introduced that could have really made this story very intense and romantic. Those situations made the story successful even though it could have been so much more. Overall, a little disappointing but a satisfying ending to The Selection.

The One finally reveals some answers! In this book you will find out who America ends up with. In the middle of all the chaos with the rebels, something horrible has happened back at America’s home. The book becomes very melancholic especially at the end, because of the rebels. Maxon realizes who he truly loves, and so does America. While the book gets very sad, the end will definitely raise your spirits. The ending is no better than what you can hope for, and for once everyone is finally happy!

The One provided a lot more action than the last two books combined. In a way, it was a bit refreshing to see that the drama was not revolved around the Selected and their arguments as it was in the first two books. There was major character development in this book for every single character. I believe that most of them grew in ways that the readers never would’ve seen coming. I really enjoyed reading about America’s revelation as she chooses to use her platform as a voice for the lower Castes. One thing is for sure, this book focused more on the discrimination that is found in the Castes and seemed very similar to situations going on in the world today. I think this alone will make all readers inspired to make a little change in our corrupt world. This book is definitely more fast-paced than the other books and requires a lot of undivided attention. While I love to multitask and complete chores while reading, it simply could not be done with this book. One thing I would’ve changed is the ending as it all seemed a bit too rushed and shocking but I understand the author as it would have been incredibly difficult to make the resolution seem more "natural." Overall, it’s a good read but it is heavily jam-packed.

I literally LOVEEE this book. The ending is so perfect, and I could not stop sobbing the whole time. This book made me grin, sob, and my heart stop. Probably one of the best books I've ever read. <3

“America, my love, you are sunlight falling through trees. You are laughter that breaks through sadness. You are the breeze on a too-war day. You are clarity in the midst of confusion.

You are not the world, but you are everything that makes the world good. Without you, my life would still exist, but that's all it would manage to do.

You said that to get things right one of us would have to take a leap of faith. I think I've discovered the canyon that must be leaped, and I hope to find you waiting for me on the other side.

I love you, America.

Yours forever,

"But with his eyes right there, staring so deeply into mine, it was easy to dismiss that. I could forget about everything surrounding us when he looked at me like that. And so I did. I fell into Maxon's arms, holding him tightly. There was no place in the world I wanted to be more."

"Hell, my dear," he whispers.
"Don't start," I warn in return, and we're both left smiling. He holds my hands as if they're the only things pinning him to earth and i focus on that as i prepare myself for the words coming, the promises I'll never break. It's magical really, the power this day has.

But even now I know this isn't a fairy tale. I know that we'll have hard times. I know that things won't happen the way we want them to and that we'll have to work hard to remember that we chose this. It won't be perfect, not all the time. This isn't a happily ever after. It's so much more than that. -America S.
