It is about a 5th grader named August "Auggie" who has a facial difference and has been home-schooled for most of his young life. He gets enrolled at a middle school for 5th grade and wants nothing more than to feel normal. Instead Auggie gets bullied for his appearance from his peers and along the way you hear from not only Auggie, but from others who are around him begin to wonder what it means to have empathy and compassion. What it means to be a friend, how to accept your friend, but mostly how to be just "act a little kinder than necessary - the world would be a better place".

Wonder by R.J. Palacio is about a boy named August that has some facial differences. The differences made it difficult for him to go to school because he was afraid that people would make fun of him. But when his parents tell him that he is going to school, on the first day of grade six he is skeptical because of how others will treat him. But after realizing that school isn’t as bad as it seems he starts to like it. I give this book 4 stars because it isn’t the type of book I usually read but it was still very good for the type of book that it is. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes heartfelt stories. 4 stars

Wonder, written by RJ Palacio, has multiple flaws but is still a heartwarming and often relatable tale that's worth reading. The message it aims to convey is terrific - never be ashamed of yourself, and release the concept of 'fitting in.' However, the execution isn't as punchy, though it sounds fabulous on paper. The book wants to be fresh but struggles to subvert many cliches. For the longest time, the novel doesn't become anything more than a typical teen-drama, thereby compromising the freshness. Many characters feel forced, especially a character that seems to fulfil the requirement of an antagonist. However, Wonder does have its moments. The novel gives more than enough to root for the protagonist, Auggie, and thankfully, never sentimentalizes his character. I loved how the novel explored how Auggie's condition affected the people around him, so it doesn't become overly gazed upon by the protagonist for sentimental value. This is also a very fresh narrative style that allows the novel to become strong on its own terms. The film also stays faithful to the time with some fun touches, like the fact that he owns an Xbox and enjoys the Star Wars films. Overall, Wonder is far from being perfect, but it's an enjoyable read. Rating: 3/5

The main character of 'Wonder' is a boy who was born with facial disfigurement, his name is August Pullman. He has to learn how to survive at his new middle school, and cope with the outside world. His friends are Charlotte, Jack and Summer. August is a kind, shy boy. Isabel, August's mother, is kind, caring, and is very patient with him. She was once a children book illustrator, but stopped her work to care for August when he was born. I really like this book, it is a tearjerker. This novel is unique in exploring the difficulties that many people with physical deformities have when interacting with the outside world. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wouldn't mind a coming of age story.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought that it was very meaningful, and was able to express a lot of important messages in an engaging and entertaining way, which makes it more interesting to younger readers. The characters were all very well developed, which definitely added more authenticity to the story line. I liked how there were different narrators in the book, as well, which gave further insight into each character’s life, struggles, and personalities. I appreciated all of its messages of acceptance, and think that this would be a great book for anyone to read and learn from. 4/5 stars

Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a heartwarming book about accepting yourself the way you are. It follows Auggie Pullman’s journey through his first year at school. He has a facial deformity and faces trouble accepting himself and making friends because of his face. The book shares different perspectives including Auggie’s family and his newly-made friends at his school. Even though he faces bullying, Auggie perseveres to make it through to the end. We see his growth as a person and how he learns to face his difficulties with bravery. I would recommend this book to anyone, from tweens to adults, who loves a heartwarming yet inspiring story. The book has a beautiful moral to love yourself, and you will most certainly not regret reading it.
"Wonder" by Palacio, RJ is a wonderful, heartfelt story about a boy, Auggie Pullman, who was born with facial deformity. Throughout the course of the story, he encounters challenges within school that develop his character overtime. This book teaches you to be accepting of everyone and makes you realize how fortunate you really are. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun and interesting read.
This book is filled with many heartwarming and empathetic moments. This is definitely one of my favorite childhood books, because the plot relates to so many people that are actually living through it in real life. It's about a boy who has disabilities, which makes it difficult for him in school. He learns how to ignore others and focus on himself when others make fun of him. One thing really unique about this story is that it shows the story through perspectives of different characters. This helped me gain an insight on what everybody was thinking and why they thought that, which really helped my understanding of the book.
This book is sweet and delivers a story that will leave readers with a warm heart and positive message. It's a great read for young children as well, and as a kid who loved reading this is one of my favorites. Auggie is inspirational as he struggles with his deformity and fitting in, which in truth is what all of us strive for as well.
i read this book to fulfil the goal read a book about body positivity. the book itself was just ok. not really great but definately not bad. I loved it though as i was reading this book my 2nd grader curled up in my lap and said mom, i think i know that book. is that the one where the boy looked all funny but he was really nice and he had a nice dog and it teaches you that it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside and that all you need is to be a really great friend. we then we on to have an amazing conversation about the book. It made this book hold a special place in my heart as the first one my son and i ever talked about outside of a school assignment or a prompting from me.
Wonder, by R.J Palacio, follows the story of August Pullman who was born with a facial deformity that made it hard for him to attend a real school. This story follows him as he enters the fifth grade and how students treat him because of his deformity. The story is written in a way where different students and different family members can show what they were thinking and why they were thinking it. This literary device creates an intricately woven story about coming to age and facing the world about who you are. This book was amazing, I would recommend this book to the age group of 8 and up.
Wonder by RJ Palacio is about a young boy named August Pullman who was born with a facial abnormality that makes him appear differently to others. The book goes over his internal conflict and struggles with other children and adults. The book reflects on his insecurities and personality through this captivating tale. Wonder makes readers realize that superficiality is our worst enemy when judging people and their character. I would suggest that children 11+ read this, and give it 4/5 stars.
Wonder is a really amazing story of a boy (Auggie) who has facial differences. Because of this, throughout his life he is always looked down upon and is stared at. He is starting 5th grade. He has wonderful family support, but this is really scary for Auggie. He doesn't want to be bullied. The book is about Auggie finding himself, and learning how to not care. He finds good friends which he doesn’t get along with at first. There are many ups, and downs throughout the story. I love how the book changes perspective to other characters. It has the perfect amount of humor too! If you finish reading the book, I recommend watching the movie.
