Not first-, or even second-class Collins -- though dropped on my head as a baby, I was able to discover The Secret within the first few chapters. However, the characters are engaging, and as always, Collins delights in writing himself into a corner, and writing himself out again.
An excellent Gothic tale of suspense and romance. Mr. Collins is an excellent who is a master of the English command of language and expression. This tale is worthy of Dickens, indeed it reminds one of Dickens.
